It’s time for Fouhy’s Small Stars! This week, we’re headed to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park to catch up with some young drag racers from right here in the Valley — and believe me, they are fearless when they fly down the track! Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park is a world-class drag strip where professionals exceed 300 miles per hour.  On this day, it’s the place where 10-year-old Bella Scofield will quench her need for speed “When that light turns on and you have to press your gas, it’s like, really cool,” she said. So, Bella, what’s it like when you go pedal to the metal?

“OK, so when you press the gas, your body like swings back, like pushes your back… and it just feels like really awesome,” she said.

You’ve been racing for two years now, Bella. How’d you get started in drag racing?

“Um, my dad talked me into it,” she said. “I wanted to do it. Like, wanted to go fast.”

Like Bella, 14-year-old Sam Hartnett and 15-year-old Cheyne Lowry have their dads to thank for getting them into racing! They absolutely love drag racing — and Cheyne and Bella are out to show everyone that it’s not just for boys! “‘Cause they always, like, brag about them, how this sport is for boys and not girls,” Bella said. “It feels really awesome and cool and when you win, it’s like, the best part of your day. Congratulations Bella, Sam and Cheyne: You’re this week’s fast-wheelin’, tire-burnin’, drag racin’ Small Stars!
